Soapmaking today….
Here at Faerie Made we make our soap via the cold process method. What does that mean?
What it means is that we take a fat (in our case vegetable oils and nut butters) and combine with an alkali solution 
(sodium hydroxide aka lye and water), to make soap. Of course, here we add more than that. W also add pure plant based essential oils, clays, herbs and botanicals, milks, honey, mineral pigments and on …
After combining the oils, lye and liquid, we blend the solution adding our additives until we hit “trace” which means it is emulsified and ready to pour into the mold.
We cover the molds, let sit over night then the next day we cut into logs and further into bars. We then let them sit for weeks before wrapping to sell.
That’s the easy way of stating it.
So I thought that it would be a good idea to take a few pics and Show what I am talking about … hopefully we can get them in order.
That is really neat to see the soap making process.

the other day i was making soap and i thought it would be cool for people to see a bit what we do when we make soap … so i grabbed my camera and went for it.
I love the green color! I want to be a soapmaker when I grow up…

Amazing! I have always had a tiny desire to make soap. I’ve made candles but soap…well before reading this post it made me a bit frightened. I will now add it to my “someday” list. Thanks for sharing…

Curious as to what you line your soap molds with? We make soap and find it a major PITA to line that mold.
the molds are silicone lined. a bit spendy but worth it.
